Vicente no se mueve por eso estate tranquilo, estan muy contentos con el y esta demostrando una gran profesionalidad donde ha jugado este año lesionado por el bien del equipo, y al finalizar la misma se opero del tobillo

New York - Julius Erving
New Jersey - Jason Kidd
Brooklyn - ¿?

Rod Thorn views Vince Carter as playoff team leader for Nets

Rod Thorn thinks Vince Carter can lift the Nets back into the playoffs.
Vince Carter may not have Jason Kidd around to help him anymore, but he is still good enough to get the Nets back into the playoffs, team president Rod Thorn said Monday. As long as someone else helps Carter, that is.
Thorn said he thinks only two players in the league can carry a team - LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. However, Thorn feels that Carter still has the skills - and the drive - to get the Nets to where they want to be, back in the postseason.
"It's not a matter of can he carry a team?" Thorn said. "Can he be the first or second best player on a good team? Definitely."
Addressing a variety of topics in a season-ending meeting with reporters at the team's practice facility, Thorn did not reveal exact details of his plan to get the Nets back on track after they missed the playoffs for the first time in seven years. But he did suggest that Carter will be back despite calls from some to trade the star guard, who signed a four-year, $62 million contract last summer. He also said he would not be surprised if Richard Jefferson, Devin Harris and Nenad Krstic are back again, too.
Thorn said he was happy with the way Carter performed this season. After starting slowly due to a sprained right ankle that likely will be operated on soon, Carter finished averaging 21.3 points, six rebounds and 5.1 assists.
More so than numbers, Thorn was impressed with the way Carter led the team following the Kidd trade on Feb.19. Once Kidd was shipped to Dallas, there was a noticeable difference in Carter's demeanor.
"His leadership was the best it's been since he's been here," Thorn said. "He always took a backseat to Jason when it came to those kinds of things. I think he considered it Jason's team, which it was. But his leadership qualities really came to the (forefront). I can't say enough about him. I think he played absolutely great from the time of the trade (on)."
Thorn said Carter "very probably" will have to get arthroscopic surgery to removed "floating bodies" from his ankle but that he should be "fine" and ready for the start of training camp in the fall.
The Nets have two picks in the upcoming draft, 10th and 21st, and Thorn said there's a chance he could try to package them to move up higher. The team also has three free agents on its roster, Krstic (restricted), Bostjan Nachbar and DeSagana Diop, whom Thorn would like to re-sign.
Thorn did not say so yesterday, but the Nets are believed to be interested in trading Jefferson. Though past attempts to move Jefferson have been unsuccessful, his value may be higher now that he's coming off his best season, in which he averaged 22.6 points and played in all 82 games.

“But I refuse to quit on the season, or quit on this team. Because we’re playing for more than that. We’re playing for next year now. It’s about getting the new guys comfortable — guys like Sean (Williams), making him understand what’s expected here. It’s been an up and down season, I don’t know what his mentality is about.
“So for him to see Richard (Jefferson) and me finish out the year strong — regardless of what happens — is important for this franchise.”
“If you’ve seen his ankle, many would say — now that our playoff chances are slimmer and slimmer— they’d say, ‘Eh, shut it down,’” coach Lawrence Frank said. “But Vince is determined to play as much as he can, until the ankle limits him from not playing. That reflects upon his character.”
"It says a lot about him as a person,'' Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. "When you look at his ankle, it is very swollen. He had every opportunity to sit it out, if not shut it down, yet he continues to fight. Vince is a first-class person.''
Or, as Nets executive Kiki Vandeweghe put it the other day, “Vince has played his guts out. You have to be really impressed with the leadership he’s shown.”
