https://www.nba.com/news/pacers-to-hire ... e-as-coach
Carlisle told ESPN he thinks Kidd and Dallas star guard Luka Doncic could thrive together.

“It’s hard to put an exact finger on it. It’s just a feeling that I had that it would be mutually beneficial,” Carlisle said. “My hope is that Jason Kidd will be the next coach of the Mavs because he and Luka have so many things in common as players.

“I just think that it would be a great situation for Luka, and I think it would be an amazing situation for Jason. I’m the only person on the planet that’s coached both of those guys and that knows about all of their special qualities as basketball players. To me, that just would be a great marriage, but that’s just an opinion.”

A mí Kidd tampoco me hace mucha gracia.

Reports: Mavs hire Jason Kidd, name Nico Harrison general manager

Dallas will be Kidd's third stop as a coach, following stints in Brooklyn and Milwaukee.
https://www.nba.com/news/reports-maveri ... head-coach
Spoiler :
DALLAS (AP) — Jason Kidd is coming back to Dallas again, this time to replace the coach he won a championship with as the point guard of the Mavericks 10 years ago.

A person with direct knowledge of the agreement said Kidd and the Mavericks agreed on a contract Friday, eight days after Rick Carlisle resigned abruptly in the wake of general manager Donnie Nelson’s departure. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn’t been announced.

Carlisle, who took the Indiana job Thursday, gave ESPN an unsolicited endorsement of Kidd for his old job because of the impact Carlisle thought Kidd could have on Luka Doncic, the sensational young point guard who carries the hopes of the Mavericks.

The Mavericks have also found Nelson’s replacement in Nike executive Nico Harrison, who will carry the titles of GM and president of basketball operations, the person told AP. Harrison was on board with the Kidd hiring, the person said.

It’s already the third head coaching stop for the 48-year-old Kidd, who took Brooklyn to the second round in his debut in 2013-14 before bolting for Milwaukee. Kidd was fired during his fourth season with the Bucks after first-round exits two of his first three years. He was 139-152 with the Bucks after going 44-38 with the Nets.

Kidd, who is coming off two seasons on Frank Vogel’s staff with the Los Angeles Lakers, had two stints as a player in Dallas, the second highlighted by the franchise’s only title when he directed the offense that ran through star Dirk Nowitzki. His career started with the Mavericks as the No. 2 overall pick in the 1994 draft.

A year and a half after being named Co-Rookie of the Year in 1995, Kidd was traded to Phoenix amid turmoil with teammates Jim Jackson and Jamal Mashburn, both selected fourth overall in the two years before Kidd arrived.

Now Kidd’s success in Dallas will depend how he develops Doncic, a two-time All-Star whose playmaking skills had Carlisle calling him one of the five best players in the world before the coach’s unexpected departure.

It could be considered Kidd’s second chance with a European superstar, although Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t yet a two-time MVP when Kidd was fired in Milwaukee. The “Greek Freak” did blossom into an All-Star under Kidd, whose hiring in 2014 under new ownership in Milwaukee cost the Bucks two second-round draft picks.

The first step for the Mavericks will be getting out of the first round of the playoffs, which they haven’t done since Kidd helped them beat LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals. Doncic’s first two postseasons ended in the first round against the Clippers.
Spoiler :
Harrison has been in Nike’s basketball division for nearly 20 years, rising through the ranks through relationships with stars such as the late Kobe Bryant. He’s also had interactions with Doncic through shoe contracts.

Cuban’s relationship with Nelson was a more traditional basketball arrangement, with Nelson’s expertise coming in player evaluation even though he held the title of president of basketball operations longer than that of general manager. Nelson’s roots were in Europe, where he discovered Nowitzki and Doncic as teenagers roughly 20 years apart.

Harrison’s background is more in marketing and building relationships, and fits the model some clubs have used in putting former agents in key personnel roles.

Nelson’s departure came amid reports of a power struggle in the front office. With the executive who once called him “our Jerry Sloan” gone, Carlisle didn’t hang around long.

Mark Cuban is FIRED UP for the Mavericks’ hiring of Jason Kidd … telling TMZ Sports he thinks the dude is “going to be great” for Dallas and its star point guard, Luka Doncic. The Mavs owner spoke with us leaving Victory The Podcast in L.A. just hours after making the hire official … and it ain’t hard to tell, Cubes is expecting greatness from his team’s new headman. “I’m excited about it, obviously,” the 62-year-old said. “J. Kidd is going to be great for us. He’s going to be great for Luka, for the organization. I’m really excited.”
– via TMZ Staff @ TMZ.com

Kidd is expected to hire J.J. Barea to his coaching staff, sources say, and Jason Terry has been reported as another potential addition. These moves have been encouraged by special adviser Dirk Nowitzki, who team sources confirm had a significant influence on Mark Cuban’s decision-making process.
– via Tim Cato @ The Athletic
Cuban did solicit lists of promising executives around the league, sources say, which were indeed sent to Mike Forde’s consulting firm Sportsology. But league sources always viewed the firm’s involvement as a public relations ploy more than Cuban seriously considering any concession of decision-making influence.
– via Tim Cato @ The Athletic

Harrison’s transition will look different from other outside hires recently seen around the league. While Rob Pelinka and Leon Rose are successfully running front offices in Los Angeles and New York, respectively, Harrison will face a steeper learning curve. His years with Nike didn’t provide him constant, direct interactions with front offices like running an agency does, and one league source personally familiar with Harrison downplays his ability as a talent evaluator. But that might not even be a front office responsibility with which Harrison is tasked. He certainly has skills that will immediately translate to Dallas, even if it takes time to fully grasp every element of his new career.

Nicolo Melli nearing a deal to play in Italy

Olimpia Milano is close to bringing forward Nicolo Melli back in EuroLeague. The two sides had been having long conversations for quite some time and, as Euro

Milano has been making a big effort to acquire Melli and bring him back in the Forum after they parted ways in 2015. Following some recent talks last week, the Italian club was cautiously optimistic that an agreement will be reached and things are moving towards that direction.

https://www.nba.com/news/reports-celtic ... richardson
Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42

Sources confirm that Boston is acquiring Josh Richardson with their $11M trade exception. Because the salary for Richardson jumps to $11.6M in 2021/22, the trade will get finalized on Saturday. The Mavericks will create a $10.9M trade exception as part of the deal.
Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42

The Mavericks are now in position to possibly have up to $33M in cap space. However, using a majority of room could come at the cost of free agent Tim Hardaway Jr.

Brian Robb: A league source tells MassLive that Celtics are still ironing out details but will need to finalize Josh Richardson trade by Monday. Look for a protected pick or non-guaranteed salary heading back to Dallas.

Josh Richardson-Moses Brown trade official

Marc Stein: The Mavericks have announced the trade of Josh Richardson to Boston in exchange for Moses Brown as they create more salary-cap flexibility for the free-agent pursuit of Toronto’s Kyle Lowry.
– via Twitter TheSteinLine

Keith Smith: Per a source: There was a bit of a tug-of-war between Boston and Dallas. Boston wanted to send back a bit more guaranteed salary for Richard. Dallas initially didn’t want any. Teams landed in the middle with a minimal amount of guaranteed salary for Moses Brown heading to Dallas.
– via Twitter KeithSmithNBA

Keith Smith: Celtics create a small trade exception in the Richardson-Brown swap. The usable portion of the Gordon Hayward TPE for Boston is now gone. Mavs will create a $10.8M TPE for Richardson. It will likely get renounced for cap space later.
– via Twitter KeithSmithNBA

A ver si Dallas Mavericks consigue colocar a Trey Burke y a Dwight Powell.
