Shams reiterates something we’ve heard since the firing: DeAndre Jordan’s frustration in not starting.
And ultimately: Kevin Durant said Atkinson was not the coach for a championship team. Mentioned “habits” they were picking up.
KD & Kyrie played zero games for Atkinson.
This is what KD said about Atkinson at Media Day:
“I was doing a lot of YouTube research on Kenny Atkinson, and watching interviews and seeing how he talked about the game. And I really liked his approach to his craft as a coach, and that’s what drew me in pretty quickly.
Melo y Soprano se sigue dando por hecho...My opinion is that Danilo Gallnari will be considered. I haven't heard anything on Davis Bertans, which doesn't necessarily mean the Knicks don't have interest in him. New York would need to offer Bertans a significant contract to pry him in free agency. The Wizards have Bertans' Bird Rights and can exceed the cap to re-sign him at any amount up to his max salary.
Esto no te va a gustar Bonner...Aside from some with the Knicks being enamored with Wood, I'm going to go ahead and link Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks. This isn't based on any new reporting. It's an assumption based on what we knew last June.
Prior to free agency last summer, the Knicks strongly considered signing Anthony if they were able to land two other stars. They missed out on the stars in free agency, which took Anthony out of their plans. Leon Rose, now the Knicks team president, was Anthony's agent. The two remain close.
Conexión Atkinson y Joe Harris...I'd imagine that all teams with cap space have some degree of interest in Ingram, given his age and talent. But I'd be surprised if the Pelicans didn't re-sign Ingram. If they want to build around Zion Williamson -- and why wouldn't they -- you'd assume that young, talented players like Ingram fit into their plan.
Oladipo, La Ceja... humazo o no?If Atkinson ends up being the Knicks head coach, I can certainly see them making a run at Harris. New York had some interest in trying to trade for Harris prior to the 2020 NBA trade deadline, but I don't know if they had any discussions with Brooklyn or if those discussions gained any traction.
I'm not sure if you were asking about the Knicks or the Nets here. Both clubs seemingly have the assets to pull off a deal for Oladipo. I think most teams would want to see how Oladipo looks on the court before offering a big trade package for him.
We don't know if Indiana has any desire to trade Oladipo, but some teams are keeping an eye on the Pacers as a potential trade partner.
If Anthony Davis decides to test the market, I'm sure the Knicks would offer him a long-term deal. Outside of that, I'd guess that they shy away from long-term contracts unless they feel like they can sign a young free agent (Ingram, Fred VanVleet) to a multi-year deal that is team friendly. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered big short-term deals to their free agent targets to try and get them to New York. The Knicks are one of a handful of teams who project to have significant cap space this summer.
