Mínimo unas dos, sí
Minnesota Timberwolves president David Kahn says "no team in any league has reached a deal" on a buyout for Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio (FSY).
A Spanish media report circulated earlier Wednesday said that Regal Barcelona had reached a buyout agreement with Rubio's team, DKV Joventut. The report said Rubio would sign a six-year deal with the team that included an affordable buyout in 2011 that would allow him to come to the NBA.
But Kahn issued a statement Wednesday afternoon saying no deal has been reached.

Wolves
Al Jefferson. Kevin Love. Jonny Flynn. That's a start. But new coach Kurt Rambis might wish he had never left Phil Jackson's right hand when considering the holes on his current roster. Of course, the Wolves could have addressed their needs better had they not drafted two point guards with their top two picks. Especially since one of them is still holding the Wolves hostage in Spain. But that's a whole other issue.
2009-10 Predictions: Rookie of the Year
Jonny Flynn
Flynn is generally considered the most NBA-ready rookie east of Blake Griffin, and he'd better be -- he'll be starting from day one for the Timberwolves. Unless, of course, the Wolves actually do coax Ricky Rubio to join them, in which case the PG controversy born on draft night will be revived.
Barring a total pratfall over in Europe, the allure of Rubio is not likely to abate. For example, he remains an ongoing fixation of Knicks fans despite the fact that in the current scheme of things New York has nothing of real value to offer the Wolves. Few things are more enticing than a prospect deemed to have magnificent potential. Rubio, who has been named the defensive player of his league, is a rangy 6-4, held his own against NBA stars at the Olympics and plays with a flair that sells tickets, has magnificent potential. If he continues his upward arc over in Spain, the potential compensation for another team plucking him from the Wolves rises dramatically, while what the Wolves pay him remains the same.

New Timberwolves coach Kurt Rambis will add former Detroit Pistons bad-boy center Bill Laimbeer and former Sacramento Kings head coach Reggie Theus to his staff, according to a league source.
Those two notable names will join Boston assistant general manager Dave Wohl, a former Los Angeles Lakers assistant and New Jersey's head coach in the 1980s who will become Rambis' No. 1 assistant.
Laimbeer, 52, resigned as the Detroit Shock's head coach and general manager in June after winning three WNBA titles in seven seasons as its coach. He did so in a surprise move presumably to pursue a coaching career in the NBA, where he won two NBA titles with the Pistons displaying an agitating playing style that earned him the nickname "His Heinous."
He has never coached in the NBA.
Theus, 51, coached the Kings to a 44-62 record before being fired last winter 24 games into his second season as head coach. He previously coached New Mexico State for two seasons and was an assistant coach to Rick Pitino at Louisville before that.
He played shooting guard for five franchises in his 13-season NBA playing career.
Current assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff might be retained from the team's former coaching staff. Jerry Sichting and Dean Cooper likely will be reassigned to the front office until their contracts expire.
He is back in Spain this weekend trying one more time to finalize a buyout deal with DKV Joventut that would get Ricky Rubio in a Wolves uniform by training camp. If completed, the deal would include the Wolves playing an exhibition game against Joventut in Badalona, Spain, next October.
Rubio trade with Knicks in the works?
News just broke tonight that Ricky Rubio is poised to sign with Barcelona, but is that really it?
Might the Wolves be about to deal the Spanish point guard, perhaps to the New York Knicks, which Rubio’s parents and representatives have wanted all along?
Or at least is that what Rubio’s agent is trying to force?
A league source tells me there’s plenty of talk floating that the Knicks again are pushing hard to deal for Rubio — probably with an assist from agent Dan Fegan — and there’s word of a Rubio for restricted free agent David Lee, Nate Robinson and a No. 1 pick deal.
That’d give the Wolves three power forward types, wouldn’t it? But with David Kahn, anything could be possible.
Of course, the Wolves would have to give back some sizable salaries to make the deal work (with the Knicks signing and then trading Lee), but they do have Brian Cardinal and Mark Blount, to name two contracts that total $14 million plus.
The Rubio-to-Barcelona thing still may be just the latest threat to get Rubio to a market where endorsements presumably will pay most of that big buyout.
Stayed tuned.
