The Michigan Wolverines received their second commitment in as many days from a member of the Class of 2013, ESPN's Dave Telep reported on Monday.
"After obtaining a verbal from wing Zak Irvin (Sunday), John Beilein and his staff picked up their fourth pledge from the Class of 2013," Telep said.
Derrick Walton (Detroit, Mich./Chandler Park Academy) said he knew he was ready following the summer circuit. "I can trust them on and off the court," Walton told ESPN. "The coaching staff is formed of guys that are very honest and a few guys are from where I?m from so I could relate to them."
Walton said Michigan State was pursuing him and he had offers from Xavier, Valparaiso, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Iowa State.
With the decision out of the way, Walton joins Irvin, guard Austin Hatch (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) and power forward Mark Donnal (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne).
Rotnei Clarke, one of the nation’s best shooting guards, will transfer from Arkansas to Butler.
His father confirmed the decision in a text message Monday night. CBSsports.com first reported the move.
It’s a major recruiting win for the Bulldogs, who have lost the national championship game each of the past two seasons.
Clarke averaged 15.2 points for Arkansas last season and shot well from 3-point range.
